Satellite links provide a flexible connection over long distances. Unfortnately, however, satellite links are very expensive. The cost is directly related to bandwidth utilization. Therefore, it is extremely important to reduce the spectrum allocated for a particular service over satellite. RAD Compressed Voice System (CVS) compresses up to 11 E1 lines into one E1 link for cost-effective satellite transmissions. CVS also supports data services using transparent connectivity over the voice connection, where CVS compresses only the voice traffic.

The Kilomux-2100, a member of the CVS line of products, combines transmission of high quality voice compressed channels with low speed data links at low bandwidth. The Kilomux-2100 is well-suited for the satellite environment, as it contains an elastic buffer to deal with the long delay introduced by the wireless path. Support for multiple interfaces enable a diverse number of applications including satellite uplink.
