What is the difference between the seminar this year and last year?
This year we have emphasized the design part of the seminar more than in previous years. Last year we offered a 4 hour Design workshop as an alternative to the RAD standard technical workshop. The success of this Design workshop has encouraged us to re-arrange the seminar. This year the seminar will contribute more to your understanding of RAD’s products, the concepts and the tools that you need to build solutions and the best access solutions for RAD’s two main markets, Carriers and Utilities.

What is the target audience for this seminar?
There are two groups of target audiences. If you are a Solutions and Network architect/network designer looking for access products and solutions, then you are in one of the groups. The first part of the seminar will interest you. If you are a NOC or Field engineer then the second part of the seminar is where you need to be.
Your role might require you to have both sets of knowledge – feel free to attend both parts off the seminar.
What prior knowledge do I need?
You need to bring to the seminar a basic understanding of data communications, including both TDM and Ethernet technologies.
If I am not familiar with RAD products, will I benefit from this seminar?
Yes. We will be giving a short introduction to the products that will be covered in each session. We have designed the workshops to allow new to RAD people as well as those with more experience to gain knowledge at levels that are suited to them. You will also benefit from the interaction with the trainers that take into account the levels of each participant.
Does everyone cover both Carriers and Utilities applications?
The first two days of the seminar are devoted to RAD solutions. RAD’s solutions cover the Carrier and the Utilities markets, So the first part of these two days are common to both Carriers and Utilities. Following this introduction, we will split the participants into two streams, one focusing on Carrier solutions and the other on Utilities.
Can I attend both parts of the seminar – the Design and the Configuration workshops?
Definitely! You are very welcome to attend either the first part of the seminar (Monday and Tuesday – the Design Workshops), or the second part (Wednesday and Thursday – Configuration and Trouble-shooting Workshops) or both parts (from Monday to Thursday) . Your decision should be based on what skills you wish to acquire.
Will someone pick me up from the airport?
Please make your own way from the airport.
Where can I get lunch on the seminar days?
Lunch is provided by RAD on seminar days.
Do I have to pay for the seminar?
Registration for the seminar is €75 and includes attendance at the lectures and all the hands-on product workshops. If you want to attend just the opening day (the lectures day) the registration fee is still €75. You need to pay for your own travel and accommodation as well as your evening meals.
What should I bring with me to the seminar?
The most important thing to bring with is a desire to learn and have fun. We'll bring the rest!
What is the dress code for the seminar?
We feel that you will learn best if you feel relaxed - please dress casually.
Where can I get background information on the products/technology before I attend?

Will I get the printout of the material presented in the seminar?
No, we're not printing the seminar lectures. In accordance with RAD's environmental policies we are no longer printing the Lecture Materials for our Technical Seminars. Please download them from the FTP site (the FTP address will be sent to you 3 weeks before the seminar). You are welcome to use your laptop to display the lecture slides at the seminar, or to print them for yourself if you require.
Please note: We WILL be printing the Workshop Manuals that you will be using during the Configuration and Trouble-shooting workshops at the seminar, as they are required during the workshops that you will be participating in.

Yes – there is an exam. Following the seminar you will be informed when the exam is on-line. You can download the exam from the special exam site and send your answers to RAD for marking. Please note that the exams only cover the Configuration and Trouble-shooting workshops.
At RAD we believe that the exam forms an important part of the learning process, requiring the participant to integrate the knowledge learnt and apply it in a new way. In addition the exams supply us with a measure of how well the training has been delivered, and help us to pinpoint areas that need improvement.
What language is the exam in?
The exam is in English and all the questions are multiple choice. You do not need to write any text in the exam.
When do I get my certificate?
You will get a certificate for attending the seminar. The ‘real’ certificate will be sent to your RAD Partner by mail, following your successful completion of the exam. Your RAD Partner will forward it to you |
