2-Wire Modem Extends Local Loop to 6.6 km (4.1 miles)

RAD introduces the ASMi-51 MSDSL modem, which offers variable data rates and extended distances in the Local Loop. The ASMi-51 ensures cost-effective deployment by supporting data rates up to 2.3 Mbps over a single pair of wires. Utilizing Multirate Single Pair DSL technology, the ASMi-51 extends data transmission up to 6.6 km (4.1 miles) and performs reliably even over poor quality or noisy lines.

Scalable, Low Cost Solution for Carriers and Enterprises

“The ASMi-51 enables high speed data services over a 2-wire line, which saves costs in terms of infrastructure wiring. In addition, the ability to support a wide range of data rates on the user side, ranging from 64 kbps to 2.3 Mbps, provides carriers and enterprises the scalability they need to support growth and evolving business needs,” states Avi Katz, Senior Product Line Manager at RAD.

Cost-Effective LAN-to-LAN Connectivity
Large businesses, such as enterprises and utility companies, require flexible, cost-effective solutions to support data communications between buildings and sites. “The ASMi-51 contains a built-in bridge and router which facilitate LAN-to-LAN connectivity between distant sites without the need for separate bridging/routing equipment. This reduces costs and saves space at the customer premises,” Katz explains.
